Discussing
a client's concerns allows drk the opportunity to create new possibilities
approach approach towards the proposal.
This Complementary
relationship between drk and client is based on a critical attitude
and mutual respect. In this sense, the presence and participation
of the client are essential aspects of a project's success. |

In the work
of drk one can recognize certain themes (motives) that are typical
of their attitude towards every new assignment. These fundamental
motives act as a departure point for the direction of each project.
Ruimte/Space - its experience and use: one must begin with the
very basic of questions, "What is its purpose and how will
it function?"
(Dis)continuity
- the "spirit" of a place or genius loci is always considered
in the program of an assignment; providing a response to the surrounding
environment depends on the character of the site. There are moments
when continuity in context is essential to preserving and enhancing
a site's "spirit"; other moments call for a break: disconitinuity
in some instances can serve to enliven and rejuvenate a place. |
|
Particular-Anonymous
- a motive that encompasses two extremes of building: one aspect involves
particular inhabitants who have a very personal connection to the
finished result - a future user specific to the project with equally
specific concerns. The other involves the larger notion of anonymity
and working towards a project with unknown inhabitants. Both require
the same understanding and approach to universal as well as specific
needs. |
